The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas
Date: April 9, 2015, 7:30 PM - 10:00 PM
Venue: Stringer Fine Arts Center, Hutchinson Community College - Hutchinson Community College
Sponsor: Hutchinson Community College Theatre Department

The Event:      Hutchinson Community College Theatre Department will present the musical comedy The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas on April 9-11. The show will be held at 7:30 p.m. nightly at the Stringer Fine Arts Gallery Theatre on the HCC campus. The musical focuses on the town of Gilbert, Texas, where Sheriff Ed Earl has a long-standing relationship with the madam of the Chicken Ranch brothel Miss Mona. When a big-city television show run by Melvin P. Thorpe, comes to Gilbert, the secret of the Whorehouse is exposed and moral outrage calls for the house to be closed. Miss Mona agrees to a temporary closure to quiet the critics, but consents to the annual tradition of hosting the winning team from the Texas A&M-Texas game. An ambush of the party by the television show leads to a climatic end of the brothel and a change in the relationship between Miss Mona and Sheriff Earl.
