Classical Connections

Classical music’s influence in today’s culture is frequently heard in pop music, television, film and even sports.  In fact, it’s become such a part of our day-to-day activities that it’s easily overlooked.

You’re invited to discover Classical Connections, a new monthly series on Radio Kansas highlighting the relevance of classical music in today’s world.  The series will explore a different facet of classical music’s influence each month by offering a bit of trivia and a sampling of great works “in tune” with current trends.|

This week's trivia question:

What "Carnival" themed classical piece has selections tied to such animals as elephants and tortoises, kangaroos and swans, and even ancient fossils?

    a) 'The Evolution of the Species' by C.R. Darwin
    b) 'A Day at the Circus' by Phineas Taylor Barnum
    c) 'Sailors of the Lost Ark' by Indiana Jones
    d) 'The Carnival of the Animals' by Camille Saint-Saens

Click the link below to test your classical IQ and enter the current prize drawing! You’ll also find the answer to this week’s trivia question.
