Lelah Dushkin has led an exciting life.
One look around her warm home right across the street
from the Kansas State University campus tells you that
instantly. During her years as a sociologist at KSU
specializing in teaching South Asia studies, she was
immersed in her field of study. Her home is filled with
exotic and rare memories of her travels to India and
other faraway destinations most of us only dream about.
Artwork, crafts and even yak bone jewelry greet visitors
with that hint of mystery. Lelah shares her home with
two cats, and a dog.
Lelah's early years were just as exciting
growing up in a unique music school in a suburb of Chicago,
founded by her father, David. Known at the time locally
as the Dushkin School, it is now known at the Music
Institute of Chicago. Lelah's early love of music has
continued throughout her life, sharing space with her
love of the East.
Lelah Dushkin has been a strong supporter
of Radio Kansas for many, many years. But unlike most
folks, she's taken a step further. Lelah has included
Radio Kansas in her will. Through a living trust, she
has designated Radio Kansas as a beneficiary. This means
her support for the programming she has always loved
will continue forever. Lelah says, "When we listen several
hours a day as I do, we should support it. Who will
if we don't? I want to make sure that classical music
and news continues to be broadcast." According to Lelah,
"I can't take it with me, so I might as well leave it
to Radio Kansas." |
