From Ken Baker,
Radio Kansas General Manager,
Huge Garrison Keillor fan
We love PHC
and will do all we can to keep the show, so we're taking the "good fight" to the web!
During our brief fundraiser we failed to document community interest in PHC
equivalent to station costs. We are fully aware that this may be due to beautiful weather...or a big game on another station...who knows?
A show is sustainable when many people pledge a little, or a few people pledge a lot. If you haven't recently helped us present PHC with a donation, or haven't yet pledged in a manner demonstrating your true interest in PHC
, please click here
to send an e-mail indicating what more you can send IF AND ONLY IF we determine we can continue to purchase the show. In fact, SEND NO ADDITIONAL MONEY NOW. We'll bill you only after we're sure
we can continue to present the show.
is bundled with The Writer's Almanac
. Even if PHC
fails, we'll reach out to the network to allow us to carry just the Almanac
, but pricing may make that impossible. Watch this space for updates.

Finally, a bit of candor from the General Manager:
We don't believe it's yet time, but at some point we may just need to let PHC
go. They have worked hard to create and promote a website through which properly-equipped internet users can bypass Radio Kansas and listen directly. This alternate access may be entirely responsible for the slip in response to our broadcasts. Please note that if we fail to meet our goal for additional pledging, it in no way reflects on our own commitment
to the show. It may simply prove that - like failed newspapers nationwide - giving material away on the web is tricky business.
If you want us to continue sharing PHC
across central Kansas live and over the air, let us know with a generous pledge. Thanks.
The program airs live
Saturday evenings from 5 to 7, but
almost as many folks enjoy our re-broadcast Sunday afternoons from
1 to 3. Let us know which time suits you best!
